
Coaching Staff
Head Coach - Luke Elgie
Coach Elgie is in his second year as the head coach of the Sabers. Prior to becoming the head coach, he served as an assistant coach for both the Legacy Softball program and the Legacy Boys' Basketball program for seven years. In addition to coaching, Luke teaches physical education and AVID at Legacy High School.

Luke is a native of Minot. He is a graduate of Minot High School and Minot State University where he earned degrees in physical education and social science education. He spent two years as an assistant coach on the Minot High boys' basketball staff, where they won back to back state titles in 2015 and 2016. Coach Elgie then went on to earn his Master's Degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University Irvine. ​

JV1 Coach - Nick Monosmith
Coach Monosmith is in his second year coaching for the Sabers. Nick brings over 10 years of coaching experience to the program. He has played baseball for over 20 years and also played at the collegiate level. Nick is dedicated to helping young athletes improve their skills and reach their potential.
JV1 Coach - Matt Miller
Coach Miller enters his second year coaching for the Sabers. As a coach for Legacy Softball, Matt brings a wealth of experience to the field. Graduating from the University of North Dakota in 2022, he played baseball for both UND and BSC here in Bismarck. With a deep understanding of the game and a passion for coaching, Coach Miller is dedicated to helping athletes develop their skills, teamwork, and love for the sport.

JV2 Coach - RyLee Dora
Coach Dora is in her 8th year of teaching. She is currently at Wachter Middle School, where she teaches 6th grade math and science along with AVID. She has been coaching softball at Legacy High School for seven years and also coaches middle school basketball and volleyball at Wachter. Coach Dora earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from North Dakota State University and a Master’s in Differentiated Instruction from Concordia St. Paul. Outside of teaching and coaching, she enjoys being active, spending time outdoors, traveling, and making memories with family and friends.
JV2 Coach - Daysha Malard
Coach Malard is in her 2nd season coaching the Sabers. Daysha grew up playing softball and competed at Legacy High School, where she helped her team secure a 3rd-place finish at state during her senior year. She is currently attending the University of Mary, set to graduate in April 2025 with a degree in biomechanics, and will continue her education in UMary’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program starting in Fall 2025. Along with her studies, she enjoys coaching softball and sharing her love for the game with young athletes. In her free time, she enjoys taking her dog for walks, playing sand volleyball, and spending time with friends.
Pitching Coach - Jamison Ness
Coach Ness is in her 2nd season as a pitching coach for the Sabers. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Jamison played collegiate softball as a pitcher at Bay College in Michigan and locally at the University of Mary. She is set to graduate from the University of Mary in the spring of 2025 with a degree in Sports Marketing. Passionate about developing young athletes, she is dedicated to helping pitchers reach their full potential—both physically and mentally—by building their skills, confidence, and competitive mindset.
